Miller Wire Feeder S74 MPA Plus Synergic Pulse 035-1/16

High End Wire Feeder by Miller

Has capabilities to weld all types of materials, including aluminium

Process that are available:

  • Short Circuit Transfer
  • Spray Transfer
  • Synergic Pulsed Mig
  • Profile Pulsed Mig

When used with the right Power Source this feeder is an exceptionally reliable, consistent feeder. The 4 drive roll system uses the standard Miller drive rolls.

What’s included in the Wire Feeder Package 951291:

  • S-74 MPa Plus (Single)
  • BTB 400A Gun
  • Centerfire contact tips, .035 (QTY 3), .045 (QTY 2)
  • .035-.045 reversible dual V drive rolls

You will need to decide what you are welding before you can choose the right power source for this feeder. When matched properly the uses are endless.

Selecting the proper power source:

Keep in mind that the power source is the item that carries the special built-in programs for the synergic welding, not the feeder. The feeder compliments the power source. Selecting the proper power source is the key to building your system.

For Mig Welding Aluminium, the most economic choice is the Miller AlumaPower™ 350 MPa or the 450 MPa. This allows for everything Miller has to offer for mig welding aluminium. Downside is that it is meant for just aluminum. The programs that come with the Power Source are written for only that alloy. That is why it is the most economic choice with this feeder. You will need to purchase a "Push-Pull" mig gun as an add on. Now you must decide what size of extrusions, plate, or castings are you welding. You need to ask yourself, what type of amperage is required to do the 99% of the welding we will be doing. Try to stay realistic, because saying you want to weld 1" plate once a year, would mean a huge increase in the cost of the system. It would be better to sub out that small amount of work, due to the increase in the system size you would need for 1% of your work. We will address the Mig Guns lower down in this article.

For Mig Welding a wide variety of materials, then the Miller Invision 352 MPa or the Invision 450 MPa would allow for virtually welding a broad spectrum of materials, including aluminium. Make note that this Power Source is only a Mig Welder and does not have the capabilities to Tig Weld (GTAW) or Stick Weld electrodes (SMAW). That is why this is the 2nd choice of power sources to suit this feeder. It can weld aluminum as well as the AlumaPower™, but also weld a wide range of alloys as well. If you don’t weld aluminium, then you won’t have to go out and purchase a "Push-Pull" mig gun.

For Multi-Process Welding, then the other choice is to purchase either the XMT® 350 or the XMT® 450 MPa. The XMT® MPa series power sources can perform all the mig welding process as the AlumaPower™ or the Invision MPa. It also is has built in Stick Electrode Modes and Tig Welding Modes all in DC Current.

For Aluminum Welding you will need to purchase one of the two styles of "Push-Pull" mig guns that are available from Miller. These two styles are compatible with the power sources mentioned above.

XR-Aluma-Pro™ | Goose-Neck Style Push Pull gun. Comes in either air cooled or water-cooled versions. This version has a duty cycle of 300 amps 100%, or 400 amps 100% Water Cooled. The water-cooled version will also need the purchase of a water cooler.

XR™ -Pistol-Pro | Pistol Grip Push-Pull gun. Comes in either air cooled or water-cooled versions. This version has a duty cycle of 200 amps 100%, or 400 amps 100% Water Cooled. The water-cooled version will also need the purchase of a water cooler.
