ER5356 Aluminum Alloy

Details:

Alloy 5356 is similar to AlMg5 (DIN). Principle alloying elements: Magnesium, Manganese, Chromium, Titanium. Moderate high strength capabilities

Commonly used in Trailer building and repairs, boat building and other items when a higher strength filler material is required other than the 4043 Series

The 5xxx series fillers are more ductile than the 4xxx series fillers.

The 5xxx and 6xxx series of materials are high in magnesium which typically require the use of 5356 filler material especially when the welds are fillet

5052 is an exception, as it is low in magnesium and usually would be welded with 4043 filler materials.
